The road to Malandeg Trail Camp is not on Google Maps — but this page is. Every runner moves to camp on Saturday, August 29, in assigned convoy waves. Plan ahead.
The MTR 2026 race camp is NOT the Malandeg Outdoors summit campsite. The trail run is staged at a separate race camp reached through the Laaw jump off — a different location from the regular Offgrid / Malandeg Outdoors summit camp. Do not head for the summit camp or drop a pin there. Follow this guide to the race camp, and confirm with us if you're unsure which site you're booked for.
Step One — Reach Malaybalay
Most runners flying or driving in from outside Bukidnon need to reach Malaybalay City first — that's your gateway. From there you head to the Laaw jump off, then up to camp on your assigned convoy wave. Reach Malaybalay by early afternoon on August 29 — buses from Cagayan de Oro and Davao may run late, so build in a buffer.
Laguindingan Airport serves CDO. Take an airport van or taxi straight to Agora Bus Terminal (eastbound CDO terminal). Vans go directly to Agora. Travel time approx. 1 to 1.5 hours.
Buses leave Agora Terminal every 1–2 hours, from early morning until evening. Travel time: 2 to 2.5 hours. Both ordinary and aircon available. Rural Tours (RTMI) Pabama Super 5
Drop-off at Malaybalay City Integrated Bus Terminal. Message us on Facebook for your transport from terminal to the Laaw jump off.
💡 Pro tip: Take an early-morning bus on Aug 29 so you comfortably make your assigned wave. The last vehicle to camp departs Laaw at 5:00 PM.
From Ecoland Bus Terminal in Davao City, take a CDO-bound bus that passes through Buda → Malaybalay → Manolo Fortich → CDO. Tell the conductor you're getting off at Malaybalay. Travel time: 4.5 to 5 hours. Bachelor Express Rural Tours
⚠️ Buda route is mountainous and scenic. Bring motion sickness meds if you're prone. The road climbs through cloud forest — beautiful, but winding.
All buses arrive at the Malaybalay City Integrated Bus Terminal. Message us on Facebook if you have questions.
🚌 Arrive in Malaybalay by early afternoon on Aug 29. The last vehicle to camp departs Laaw at 5:00 PM on Aug 29. On race morning there is only one trip up — Wave 9, departing Laaw at 2:00 AM — and the road closes to upward traffic at 2:30 AM. Build your travel plan around these cutoffs.
Your Transport Options
All movement to camp happens on Saturday, August 29 — plan to sleep at camp that night. Eight convoy waves run from the Laaw jump off, 40 seats each, about 20 minutes to camp. Only Wave 3 and Wave 7 are free. Waves are assigned at registration, not chosen. You can also walk in from Laaw, or bring your own 4x4 or trail motorcycle — but everything follows the convoy schedule on a single-lane road.
The main way up. Eight waves run through Saturday from the Laaw jump off — 5 pickups, 8 passengers each, 40 seats per wave, about 20 minutes to camp.
Two of the eight waves are free. Wave 3 departs Laaw at 10:35 AM and Wave 7 at 3:50 PM — same vehicles, same route, no fare.
One single trip up on race morning, August 30. Forty seats, book in advance. Miss it and you cannot reach the start.
Already in trail shape? Walk over from the Laaw jump off to camp. It's an off-road trail — rocky sections and a creek crossing included. Part of the adventure.
Have your own 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle? You're welcome to bring it — but you must coordinate with us first. The road is single-lane and all traffic follows convoy timing.
Trail motorcycles, habal-habal, and mountain bikes can use the access road on August 29 — but they follow the same convoy schedule as everything else.
📌 All arrivals pass through the Laaw jump off — however you travel. Be at the Laaw jump off 15 minutes before your wave. Miss your wave and you go on standby for the next one with an open seat.
Step by Step
The access road is single-lane, off-road, and not on Google Maps. Follow this guide exactly. Save it before you leave the city.
⚠️ Important: The road to the Trail Run race camp is not on Google Maps — and this is a different site from the Malandeg Outdoors summit camp. Do not rely on navigation apps or a summit-camp pin. Save this page, download the GPX file, and follow the photo maps to the race camp.
From The Garden, drive straight ahead until you reach the junction leading to Laaw. Look for the Malandeg Outdoors signage at the junction — that's your turn marker. Go LEFT toward Laaw and follow the single access road.
Continue until you reach the Laaw jump off. This is the staging hub for every transport type — convoy shuttle, private vehicle, motorcycle, or on foot. Present your confirmation to the gate marshal and be here 15 minutes before your assigned wave. No convoy moves without clearance from the gate authority.
Follow the rugged main road from Laaw until you hit the creek crossing. Cross carefully. After the creek there are no intersections — one road straight to the Malandeg Outdoors Gate. Travel time: about 20 minutes from Laaw.
Mobile signal is weak in the mountains. Save all maps and GPX files before you leave the city.
Rocky and uneven after the creek. 4x4 or high-clearance if driving. Foot traffic is fine on the trail.
25–35 min from The Garden to Laaw. About 20 min from Laaw to camp by vehicle or on foot.
Event marshals are stationed along the route on both days to guide everyone safely up.
Private vehicles cannot travel to camp outside scheduled convoy times. Coordinate before event day.
Download and save the GPX file. Use it alongside this guide once you're off the main road.
